The elections, which will take place in 16 constituencies spread across 12 States, are intended to fill vacancies in both the National and State Assemblies that have arisen due to resignations, deaths, and court-ordered annulments.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made this known during a consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja on Wednesday.

Among the affected constituencies is the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, where the seat became vacant following the death of its representative, Hon. Ekene Adams.

According to Yakubu, over 3.5 million registered voters are expected to participate in the polls, which will be conducted across 32 local government areas, 356 registration areas (wards), and 6,987 polling units. The Commission will deploy 30,451 officials to manage the exercise.

Reaffirming INEC’s commitment to credible and transparent elections, Yakubu stressed that the Commission is fully prepared to ensure all affected constituencies are adequately represented through a legitimate democratic process.
